0.005% to 0.01% total uncertainties: now from Scandura comes the easily transportable MPA Hydraulic Pressure Balances, ramped up in precision and manufactured for funding accessibility. This is a secondary calibration facility that was manufactured in conjunction with the technology visionaries at the I.N.RI.M (the Italian National Research Institute of Metrology) in response to the latest highly accurate transducer based pressure calibrators that now achieve 0.01% FS accuracies. The MPA deadweight tester series is much more accurate than the deadweight testers of its competitors, improving tri-fold the accuracy attained. It provides electronic error compensation and its performance range in liquid operation reaches the upper limits of 17,000 psi. What's more, these don't require the overwhelming expense of other systems that can cost up to $50,000.

Sophisticated, Affordable Hydraulic Pressure Calibrators

MPA Hydraulic Pressure Balances have been engineered by some of the finest metrology and technical minds in the world, and the result is an effective pressure calibrator that produces accuracy that's never been seen before. This deadweight tester with its automatic motor rotation drive also incorporates a number of components that, combined, bring it up to the standards introduced by the latest in transducer based pressure calibrators. Some of these component features include:

  • A piston-cylinder unit made with tungsten carbide, available in four models, each offering a particular range of psi, and all with piston fall rate that is linear as it relates to the function of pressure.
  • The masses each have a cavity that is lidded and fitted with stainless steel spheres of varying diameters that can be used to adjust to the mass value.
  • The motor drive system is designed so that only when the piston is in the lowest position does the motor apply rotation. A proximity sensor ensures that when the piston has moved up to the floating position, the motor is automatically switched off.
  • A number of sensors are integrated in the system, including a barometer, a probe for ambient temperature, and sensors for relative humidity and proximity.
