Isotech Temperature Measurement Instruments

Temperature Measurement Instruments

We carry a range of metrology devices, like the dry-block calibrator, all based on the latest in research and innovation, and all accompanied by the assistance of tech experts. The hand held precision thermometer, like the F100, or calibration baths like the Isocal 6 are in stock or available for ordering. We help with assimilating your dry block calibrator or thermometers for PRTs and thermocouples. In fact, all of our temperature measurement instruments come with the best owner's manual of all: the guaranteed help of a qualified expert.

Science Behind Precision Thermometers

Precision Thermometers

The science of metrology is fascinating. Take the triple point of water, the technology of precision thermometers. The pressure and temperature of pure water, pure ice, and pure water vapor coexisting in thermodynamic equilibrium is the triple point of water used for calibration. Triple point cells filled with hydrogen, argon, mercury, neon, oxygen, and water can achieve exact temperatures, and so these are used by ITS-90 to delineate 6 of its 14 temperature points. This represents but a small portion of the knowledge that informs our temperature measurement instruments, such as the platinum resistance thermometer or precision digital thermometer from Isotech.

Beginnings of Handheld Temperature Calibrator

The first precision thermometer was not an invention. It was a development that began with Philo and Hero of Alexandria, who noticed that air expands and contracts. In the 11th century Avicenna demonstrated the degree of heat or cold in the air by using a tube filled with water. Galileo and others refined these devices further with a more clearly defined thermoscope. It was a long way from these to our current precision thermometers, but here we are. It's remarkable to consider, for example, the PIE 512 handheld temperature calibrator in light of a Galilean thermoscope; human capability is truly marvelous.

Remarkable Dry Block Calibrator

Necessity as the mother of invention can be seen at work in the many remarkable calibration baths, the refined thermocouple calibration, and all methods and devices used to measure temperature and pressure against international standards. The small, effective handheld temperature calibrator, the dry block calibrator, these represent surmounted obstacles spanning generations of inventive thinkers. Here at Isotech our mission is to further this excellence and go beyond with a willing attitude: whether you purchase an Isocal 6 calibrator or a PIE 520 thermocouple simulator, we're always happy to help you troubleshoot your way to full implementation.
