The Isotech 798O is a large-volume stirred liquid calibration bath that controls temperature from -40°C to 125°C and calibrates many thermometers and sensors at the same time. Its calibration volume measures 240 mm in diameter and 310 mm deep, about 14 liters, roughly three times the working volume of a standard 798-series bath, so you can run more probes per batch and lower your cost per calibration. Purpose-built saltwater reservoirs adapt the same bath for oceanographic and CTD sensor calibration.
Who Needs the 798O?
Calibration labs and metrology teams that process high volumes of RTDs, PRTs, thermocouples, and liquid-in-glass thermometers, and that need room for large, long, or awkwardly shaped sensors a dry block cannot accept. It is equally at home in oceanographic and marine-science work, where conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) and other seawater sensors have to be calibrated in realistic saltwater conditions. Why a Stirred Liquid Bath?
Unlike a dry-block calibrator, a stirred liquid bath surrounds every probe in continuously circulated fluid. That gives better stability and temperature uniformity across the working zone, and it accepts sensors of almost any size or shape — something fixed metal blocks cannot do. Adjustable stir flow lets you tune circulation to the load.
Calibrate More Probes in One Run
The 798O was designed in response to customers asking for greater capacity. Its enlarged calibration volume holds a larger number of thermometers and sensors simultaneously, which is where the real time savings come from: fewer batches, less setup, and a lower cost per unit calibrated. For busy labs with growing workloads, that throughput is the difference between keeping up and falling behind.
Oceanographic and CTD Sensor Calibration
The 798O adapts for saltwater calibration through its Oceanographic Calibration Reservoirs (OCR). These seawater-compatible tanks drop into the main calibration volume and hold salt water, giving marine sensors a realistic, corrosion-resistant calibration environment. Because the smaller OCR sits inside the larger bath, it cools quickly to 0°C without ice forming, so you get fast cool-down and meaningful energy savings compared with cooling a full large-volume saltwater tank. The standard 798-OCR-A accepts up to four oceanographic probes up to 40 mm in diameter, suspended from the lid; the 798-OCR-S is a special version built to suit other probe sizes (contact Isotech for details).
Stability and Uniformity You Can Certify
In the main calibration volume, stability reaches ±0.003°C, with radial uniformity better than 0.009°C and axial uniformity better than 0.016°C across the range. Inside the OCR, stability is as tight as ±0.002°C at 50°C. Exact figures vary with set point, the datasheet lists the full performance table by temperature. Pair the 798O with an external reference thermometer for low-uncertainty, audit-ready results.
Faster Cycles, Lower Running Costs
The 798O heats from 20°C to 125°C in under 75 minutes. An optional internal cooling coil, fed from an external cold-water supply, cuts the 125°C-to-40°C cool-down from under 12 hours to under 3 hours, a major saving on time-sensitive schedules. Efficient insulation keeps energy use down without giving up performance.

Every 798O ships with a serial interface, PC cable, and control software for remote operation, automated calibration routines, and data logging — no extra communication kit to buy.
Built for the Lab Floor
The 798O is a self-contained mobile cabinet on castors, measuring 405 mm wide, 610 mm deep, and 980 mm high (870 mm to the top panel) and weighing 59 kg. An independent over-temperature safety controller protects the bath and operator, and a drain simplifies fluid changes. It runs on 1.5 kW at either 110 V or 230 V, 50/60 Hz.

Order the bath as Model 798O. Add the 798-OCR-A Oceanographic Calibration Reservoir for saltwater work with up to four 40 mm probes, or the 798-OCR-S for custom probe configurations.
